Mary Gertrude Duffy (née Martin; 1912-01-06 – 1988-05-23) was my first cousin, three times removed, being the daughter of Robert Martin Jr., son of Robert Martin and Catherine Riley, by Catherine Carr. She married Edward Patrick Duffy (1893-12-03 – 1980-02-03)⁠^{⟮1⟯Find a Grave memorial for Edward P. Duffy} as his second wife.

She is notable to me for at least two reasons:

• She is the informant for the death record of Catherine Riley, which provides the names of the latter’s parents, which was my first clue enabling me to find Catherine’s roots.
• She is buried under the same headstone as Robert and Catherine.

She had two children, Janet Carey (1932–2014)⁠^{⟮2⟯Find a Grave memorial for Janet Carey, which includes her obituary.} and Harriet Whitcomb (1934–1991?), in addition to step-relations through Edward’s first wife.

Ancestry

She is of entirely Irish descent. Her maternal grandparents were from County Galway.
