John Stanton McPherson Jr. (1909-05-29 – 1989-10-18) was my maternal grandfather. By my grandmother Genevieve Huntington he was the father of three children, including my mother Celeste. He was the son of John Stanton McPherson Sr. and Martha Fisher.
He was born in Spring City, Tennessee and died in New Jersey. His 1940 WW2 registration listed him as 5’10” and 150 lbs with brown hair and eyes.ref

He had a long maritime career, working in the United States Merchant Marine. As early as 1934 he was an oiler on board the Santa Elisa.ref
During World War II, he served for a time aboard the Honomu, although he left before it was sunk on 1942-07-05. He achieved the rank of Commander in 1946. He also transported goods through the Pacific during the Vietnam War.
In the 1950 census, his occupation was listed as marine engineer.
John married my grandmother Genevieve on 1942-03-18 and had three children with six grandchildren:
His grandchildren, including me, were born within his lifetime. As of 2022, he has four great-grandchildren and no great-great-grandchildren.
